Artist Statement:

My name is Yiyi Zhao. I’m a local artist who loves living in the Tri-cities of Washington State. I am originally from China but moved to the United States in 2018. I started painting in 2021. I do most of my paintings in acrylic, some in oil, and I love using mixed materials.

My paintings are generally a combination of two themes: human form and nature. The human forms are expressions of feelings captured through shape and color while the proximity speaks to interrelated existence. By incorporating elements of nature, I mean to infuse my paintings with life. All of these mediums are arranged in ways that highlight my experiences and thoughts. My hope is that they speak to you as deeply as they speak to me.
