Ellen Tomaszewski
Ellen has been drawing and painting her whole life. After homeschooling her children and downsizing her publishing company, Ellen returned to art. She was introduced to icons in 2014 at a retreat and fell in love with writing religious icons. Since then she has taken many classes online and has been writing (painting) them ever since, and now has four student interns.
In the past 11 years, Ellen has written over 100 icons, including the two saints whose relics reside in the altar of Christ the King Church, Richland WA, and two large icons that now hang in the St. Patrick’s School chapel in Pasco, WA. On occasion, Ellen also paints other subjects using egg tempera or watercolor paint.
Ellen lives in Richland, WA with her husband. She has four daughters, four sons-in-law, and sixteen grandchildren. Some grandmothers give their grandchildren quilts or crocheted blankets. All of Ellen’s grandchildren receive an icon of their patron saint.
